EMDR therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a transformative psychotherapy approach designed to resolve trauma and facilitate emotional healing. This evidence-based therapy involves a structured eight-phase process that guides clients through processing distressing memories and reducing their emotional charge.
During EMDR sessions, clients focus on specific memories while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, typically through guided eye movements, taps, or sounds. This dual processing helps the brain reframe traumatic experiences, promoting a healthier perspective and allowing clients to regain control over their emotional responses.
EMDR therapy is also taken at your pace so it is very individualized to your needs. I will first help you find ways to regulate in and out of session so you can feel empowered to take on daily challenges and reprocessing past experiences.

Research has shown that EMDR therapy delivered online can yield outcomes comparable to in-person sessions. Studies indicate that clients participating in virtual EMDR report reductions in symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. The flexibility and accessibility of online therapy allow individuals to engage with their healing process in a comfortable environment. Furthermore, the virtual platform often encourages a greater sense of safety, enabling clients to open up more freely during sessions.

EMDR therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a treatment designed to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences. Here’s a sneak peak into how it works:
Bilateral Stimulation: Bilateral Stimulation, such as eye movement or tapping, is used to help keep you present and help you access the brain’s natural healing mechanisms or processing our experiences.
Focus on Distressing Memory: You're asked to think about a specific traumatic memory that causes you distress. This could be an event that still affects your emotions and thoughts in a negative way.
Processing: While you recall the memory, the therapist will lead you in the bilateral stimulation. This dual focus—on the memory and the stimulation—helps to decrease the emotional charge of the memory over time.
Reprocessing: As you go through the process, you may start to gain new insights and feelings about the memory. You might find that it no longer has the same power over you, allowing you to feel more at peace.
Integration: Finally, the new positive beliefs and feelings you’ve developed are integrated into your daily life. You may find yourself reacting differently to triggers that once upset you.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful therapeutic approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences and associated mental health conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and even somatic concerns like headaches.
EMDR and PTSD
For those struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), EMDR is particularly effective. The therapy involves recalling distressing memories while receiving bilateral stimulation, typically through guided eye movements. This process helps reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge. Clients often report a significant decrease in PTSD symptoms, including flashbacks, nightmares, and emotional distress.
EMDR for Depression
When addressing depression, EMDR can help individuals uncover and process negative beliefs and emotions tied to past experiences. By facilitating the reprocessing of memories that contribute to feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness, EMDR can lead to a greater understanding of one's emotions and promote healthier thought patterns. This shift can pave the way for emotional healing and renewed motivation.
EMDR and Anxiety
Anxiety often stems from unresolved traumatic experiences or persistent negative beliefs. EMDR helps alleviate anxiety symptoms by targeting the root causes rather than simply managing surface-level symptoms. The bilateral stimulation used in EMDR allows clients to integrate distressing memories, ultimately leading to a reduction in anxiety levels. Clients may experience increased calmness and resilience in the face of anxiety-provoking situations.
EMDR for Somatic Concerns
Somatic concerns, such as chronic headaches, can often be linked to unresolved trauma or emotional high-tension states. EMDR acknowledges the connection between mind and body, offering a pathway for clients to release stored tension. By processing trauma through EMDR, individuals may find relief from physical symptoms as they address the underlying emotional issues contributing to their pain.

My Beliefs and Process
I believe people can find the answers and change they are looking for by connecting with themselves. I provide individual therapy for people who want to thrive despite their past and challenges but feel lost in how to start, intimidated by change, and overwhelmed with their own emotions.
I start with getting to know you because I believe that you know yourself best, even if you feel like a broken vase. We can pick up old pieces, find new ones, and help you be authentic, genuine, and confident. I offer a relaxed, safe, and easy-going space so you can feel heard, connect with yourself, and begin making changes at your pace.
I do believe that true connection to ourselves starts with allowing all of our emotions. I think our emotions can be challenging to channel in a helpful way, but I can help you find their intent and purpose to gain the clarity, stability, and emotional regulation you’ve been seeking. Everyone deserves mental and emotional wellness. I want to hear and be present for each part of you.
