I am thrilled that you have started to explore the possibility of therapy and change. It can be very daunting and intimidating to find a counselor or therapist that seems like a good fit and it may take a couple tries but that’s okay. Therapist are people too and it’s important to find someone who you feel understands you. Sometimes it helps to know more about them too!
I am happy to introduce myself as Maddi; partner, mom, dog mom, friend, game enthusiast, ruminator, OU sports fan, and Licensed Professional Counselor. My view is that therapy is most successful when you feel like the person in front of you is present and genuine, that the conversation is real. I find it so powerful to be present to the pain, dread, hope, disappointment, joy, thoughts, experiences, and ultimately trust of another person. For me, it is an honor to sit in front of someone and hold struggle and success.
I have been practicing as a therapist for many years, helping individuals with anxiety, depression, and PTSD connect to themselves and important people in their life by healing persistent past hurts, integrating all emotions, finding more helpful truths, and increasing understanding of our incredible but confusing brain. I have also helped people who are trying to learn more about themself, including spiritual or religious beliefs, sexuality, gender identity, and how to be an individual while or after being a family member or partner.
Helping individuals feel confident and to truly connect to their whole self is my passion. I would enjoy guiding you towards emotional regulation, authenticity, clarity and stability.
